Students interested in joining Maryland Law Review must participate in the petitioning process that occurs annually after the spring semester. In this process, students will write a case note which will be evaluated and scored by members of the law review’s editorial board as well as the editorial board of the other journals at the law school. The students who author the highest scoring petitions will be offered staff editor positions for the following academic year. The student who authors the highest scoring petition will have their piece published in Issue 2 of the Volume.

We will strive to keep this page updated as anything changes.

The petitioning period for the 2024-2025 school year has concluded. Please check back in May 2025 for the 2025-2026 petitioning cycle.

If you have any questions, please email petitioningcommittee@law.umaryland.edu.
